Amanyire pulls out of Masindi municipality mayoral race.

Independent candidate Joshua Amayire Kiiza has pulled out of the race for Masindi municipality mayoral race for the 2021 elections.
This was during a harmonization meeting of president Museveni who is also the NRM party chairperson with NRM candidates and NRM leaning independent candidates in the 2021 elections held at Masindi golf course on monday.

The meeting aimed at convincing the independents in Bunyoro sub region to withdraw from the race for the party flag bearers to increase their chances of winning the elections.

Addressing the media after a closed meeting, the NRM chairperson in Masindi district Kabakumba Labbwoni Masiko said Amanyire had stepped down the NRM candidate Ronald Kyomuhendo for the good of the party and he is available for any assignment by the president.
Amanyire confirmed his stepping down for the party candidate. He however added that she did on condition that he meets the president later to discus and conclude on the matter during which they will also agree on the assignment he will be given.

Amanyire has been one of the 8 contestants for mayor Masindi Municipality mayoral race. Others include Ronald Businge of NRM, Rodgers Amanyire of FDC, Ivan Musindi of NUP, Aggrey Valen Rwahwire , Solomon Komurubuga, Patrick Abitegeka all independents among others.

Reliable resources reveal that other independent candidates refused to step down citing various reasons.
Rodgers Byamukama, who is contesting for Masindi municipality parliamentary seat told radio Kitara that the candidates instead asked the president to instead facilitate them so that they can also campaign for him.

Byamukama added that he asked the president to ensure expansion of Masindi Hospital, build secondary schools in Karujubu and Kigulya divisions as well as health center 3 in Kigulya division.

Meanwhile the candidate for Masindi district woman MP parliamentary seat on independent ticket Lillian Kasangaki has dismissed rumors that she has quit the race after being promised an RDC job.

She says that the rumor is not true since she has not been promised any job by the president and she is still in the race.
This follows reports that Ayesiga Sarah Julian who lost in the NRM primaries for Masindi woman MP seat has been promised an RDC job by the president.

Julian posted on social media confirming the offer by the president but requested for prayers from friends to enable it materialize.
