Speaking to Badru on a phone interview he admitted that he received a water pump from Masindi Municipality like any other farmers after a thorough verification from the municipal team headed by the deputy Mayor Zaina Byenkya and he qualified to receive the pump on merit since he own a five acre coffee plantation intercropped with bananas in Kirima cell Karujubu division in Masindi municipality.
He says there was verification team lead by chairperson production Masindi Municipality who double as the deputy mayor Masindi Zaina Byenkya gave each division a chance to select a beneficiary and after selection the names were sent at the municipality then the committee conducted a thorough verification where some farmers were realized not to be qualifying and were eliminated .
He adds that he did not select himself and never was he part of the selection committee but he is surprised to see leaders of Karujubu accusing him of being a beneficiary of the pump .Budru adds, besides being a leader he is also like any other Ugandan who qualify from any government program.
He dismisses the accusations saying that is political mulish. As a leaders he has political differences with other leaders saying leaders who are complaining have no projects to showcase yet as leaders they have to be exemplary to the people they lead.
He further pins the division chairperson Karujubu Mr. Clophas Bigirwa for confronting him after he was announced as beneficiary of the pump asking him on how he received a water pump meant to benefit a farmer from Karujubu yet his is not a resident.
He finally said he has the pump on behalf of Karujubu farmers, it’s not his personal property and however needs it will be able to use it.
When contacted to have a comment on the matter the lc3 Karujubu division Bigirwa dismissed Badru’s allegations saying as a division they are to go by the council’s resolution to ascertain the criteria used to give Badru the pump.
