Speaking to our reporter today morning, the Buliisa District Health Educator Dr. Mugabe Robert said that so far their is no any Covid-19 suspect at the two isolation units in the district.
Dr. Mugabe also says that they have two isolation units that’s to say one at Buliisa General Hospital and the other at Buliisa Health Centre IV. He adds that they have managed to orient health workers at all the facilities as the standby to the pandemic.
Dr. Mugabe further says that there is a team of health workers screening at Wanseko and Butiaba screening points. “180 people have so far been screened in the district at the boarder of Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo and 22 samples taken to Uganda Virus Research Institute have all tested negative”, He explains.
He further explains that they are working in hand with the district security team to ensure that those who cross the lake at night don’t land at the shores before being screened so as to prevent the case of deadly virus in the district.
He also explains that they still have a challenge in access of funds to pay the health workers, adding that they still have gaps in the supply of protective gears for the health workers. He however says that they have so far got the donation of 1.25 tonnes of flour adding that the other donation coming from the office of prime minister will be going to the hospital and isolation unit.
He has appealed to the community to remain vigilant and practice the preventive measures including washing hands with water and soap or use of sanitizer, avoid over crowded places, avoid hand shaking and also record visitors in their areas. He also says that they are doing anything possible to have the capacity to handle any case of Covid-19 that raises in the district.
