Masindi district LCV race has been another tight fire breathing battle field as four competitors fight for the seat. They included Isingoma Wilson Mugimba (Independent), Mugume Lennox (Independent), Tom Kiweesi (FDC), and Byaruhanga Cosmas (NRM).
Amidst low turn up in the district compared to presidential, and parliamentary elections on 14th January, 2021, In the wee hours of Thursday morning, Mr. Osinde John Paul the Electoral Commission returning officer Masindi district declared Byaruhanga Cosmas the re-elected LCV Chairperson Masindi district.
Byaruhanga Cosmas garnered 35,635 votes followed by Isingoma Wilson Mugimba 14,452 votes, Mugume Lennox 1,389 votes, and Kiweesi Tom merged the least with 1,097 votes.
Addressing journalists shortly after declaration, Byaruhanga Cosmas expressed his excitement and noted that his victory was the decision made by the people of Masindi. He also appreciated people who supported him during the journey.
The re-elected chairperson has also pledged to improve on infrastructure including road networks which has been a great challenge to the people of Masindi, end conflicts, and he will be a unifying factor thus reconcile the people of Masindi. He has also pledged to improve on service delivery in the district.
It was futile to get comments from Isingoma Wilson Mugimba, Kiweesi Tom and Mugume Lennox because they were not present at the tally centre by the time we compiled this story.
