Masindi Covid-19 taskforce committee to hold a meeting next week on how to distribute donated food


Speaking to journalists today afternoon, Masindi Deputy RDC also the head of the district taskforce Bahebwa Longino said, the committee will hold a meeting next week on Tuesday and decide when to distribute the donated food items to the affected people.

He said the people affected by the lockdown and quarantine including the tax drivers, special hire drivers,  disables, saloon operators, the vulnerable, HIV patients, bar and hotel operators, will be the one to benefit from the distribution. During the first distribution, twenty disabled people were first considered and each received 10kgs of posho and they will not benefit in the next distribution, He added.

He also adds that since the donation is still little, only the affected people within the Municipality will benefit as they wait for any contribution from the Government. We so far have 22 suspects isolated at the Masindi Hospital isolation centre, 17 have tested negative twice therefore Masindi is still safe since no one has tested positive, He added.

Some of the well wishers who contributed food to the district task force include; The state Minister for Bunyoro affairs also the MP Masindi Municipality Hon. Ernest Kiiza contributed 13750kgs of rice, Kinyara Sugar LTD contributed 600 litres of fuel, 500kgs of posho, 100kgs of sugar, Bernard Karwemera commonly known as Agro-vet contributed 1000kgs of posho and 100 trays of eggs.

“Items which were donated by Pastor Samuel Kakande of Miracle Centre Cathedral Kampala, Bishop Bagonza Charles of Pentecostal Church of Uganda Masindi were distributed last Thursday”, Mr. Longino added.
Ministry of Health has so far Confirmed 55 cases of Covid-19, 12 recoveries, 861 individuals discharged from Institutional quarantine, 6661 individuals tested, 244 travellers identified, 1302 contacts listed, 834 under follow-up, 191 under self quarantine and so far no any death registered.
