Thousands of mourners cross the country on Saturday thronged the home of the district chairperson LCV for Masindi district Cosmas Byaruhanga in Kikube village Bwijanga sub county on a send off of his wife Maria Byaruhanga Muhumuza.
Maria who has been battling high blood pressure for about a month ago died at Nsambya hospital in Kampala on Wednesday morning aged 50.
While addressing mourners at the burial ceremony at his home in Kikube Byaruhanga described his wife Maria as a lovely, jolly, humble, clean, beautiful, peaceful woman who never harassed him in the 24 years he had spent with her. He says unlike other women who always give headache to their husband, Maria never gave him hard time.
The one and only child to the late Winie also described her mother as a loving, kind, peaceful mother who cracked jocks to every one whom she will always meet.
Venerable reverend Evas Senyonga Kabagabu archdeacon of Ikoba archdeaconry Masindi Kitara Diocese asked the family members to be with God especially in this trying moment and asked the public to respect the presidential directive of avoiding mass gathering to combat corona virus. She also prayed for the country to safe guard it from corona virus.
Much as many people from different parts of the district attended the burial, only a few family members were allowed to give speech. The usual long speeches which characterize burials from such families were prohibited in fear of corona virus and by 3:00pm the function had ended.
